Careers at CASE

DIRECTOR — DUE DILIGENCE & ASSET MANAGEMENT

Location: New York City, NY (In-Person Only)
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: VP, Due Diligence & Asset Management
Start Date: Immediate

THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a hands-on role for a professional who can cut through complexity, synthesize information, and drive progress. You’ll take responsibility for understanding each asset — both in workouts and acquisitions — from every angle: what happened, where things stand, and what must happen next.

At CASE, we don’t just use our knowledge and relationships to work out or acquire assets — we dive deep into data to identify trends and develop the background story and strategies built upon the hard work that puts in motion the influence of outcomes. You’ll collaborate with multiple disciplines inside the firm — from analysts to strategists to principals — to ensure that data becomes insight, and insight becomes action.

You’ll coordinate closely with CASE’s modeling and financial analyst teams, but the insight, analysis, and perspective will come from the work you do — from the data you gather, the patterns you recognize, and the conclusions you draw. You’ll work directly with senior leadership, lenders, borrowers, and investors to move high-stakes projects forward — not just analyzing problems, but putting solutions into motion.

This role is for someone who can become the connective tissue between data and decision-making — someone who can help shape the firm’s understanding of complex situations and, over time, grow into a leadership role within the firm.

FULL-VERTICAL EXPOSURE
At most firms, professionals spend years confined to narrow roles, seeing only fragments of the process. At CASE, the success of our business depends on understanding the full vertical — from property operations to financing, from diligence through execution.

That means your exposure and learning curve here will be faster and broader than almost anywhere else in the industry. You’ll learn how operational realities shape capital decisions, how financing structures drive outcomes, and how those insights connect across every discipline of the firm.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Asset & Portfolio Analysis

  • Collect, organize, and interpret property- and loan-level data across workouts, restructurings, and acquisitions.

  • Identify and clarify key facts — what happened, the current position, and the actions needed to move forward.

  • Synthesize inputs from leases, operating statements, loan documents, and market data into clear conclusions that inform strategy.

  • Evaluate property operations and their effect on financing structures — both for new transactions and for the restructuring of existing loans.

  • Work closely with the strategy team to ensure they receive a complete, clear view of every situation — developed and reviewed through the diligence process you lead.

Due Diligence & Research

  • Oversee due diligence to uncover operational issues, loan-structure weaknesses, and hidden opportunities.

  • Evaluate third-party reports, appraisals, rent rolls, and servicer communications to build a full picture of each asset.

  • Use findings to strengthen CASE’s negotiating position and validate or challenge assumptions in the business plan.

  • Present organized, fact-based summaries that allow the strategy team and senior leadership to interpret and act decisively.

Collaboration Across Teams

  • Coordinate with the modeling and analyst team, who assist in developing data, models, and underlying assumptions.

  • Partner with the strategy team, who interpret the full picture that emerges from your diligence work.

  • Ensure that every project — from data collection to strategic interpretation — is tightly aligned, current, and actionable.

  • Maintain disciplined organization, documentation, and communication across the process.

Lender & Client Interaction

  • Support communication with lenders, borrowers, and special servicers.

  • Prepare and review funding requests, lease approvals, and modification materials with full understanding of context and risk.

  • Draft strategic memos, analyses, and correspondence that reinforce the firm’s credibility and precision.

Documentation & Credit Insight

  • Review and interpret key provisions in loan documents, leases, and guarantees.

  • Highlight structural risks, obligations, or advantages that may influence the team’s negotiating or ownership strategy.

WHAT DEFINES SUCCESS AT CASE
You bring the rigor of credit, the instincts of ownership, and the discipline of follow-through. You turn fragmented data into clarity — connecting operational, financial, and legal details into a coherent story that informs action. You’re not guessing at strategy; you’re powering it through insight and preparation.

CASE hires only those who can grow into leadership roles within the firm. The professionals who thrive here learn every layer of the business — from diligence to decision — and build the judgment and fluency to one day command a room.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 6+ years in CRE lending, credit, underwriting, asset management, or loan workouts (preferably a mix).

  • Deep understanding of property operations and their relationship to financing — including how performance, capital needs, and tenancy impact both new originations and loan restructurings.

  • Ability to read and interpret leases, loan documents, and guarantees.

  • Advanced Excel skills; Argus familiarity preferred (analyst support provided).

  • Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to organize information, prioritize deadlines, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • In-office presence required (4–5 days per week).

WHY CASE

We don’t chase volume we pursue clarity to close. We bridge structured finance and operations, solving problems others avoid because the journey may be too difficult.

On the acquisitions side, we don’t wait for deals to come through brokers or intermediaries. Our knowledge, relationships, and deep understanding of both property operations and capital structures allow us to identify and develop opportunities that most never see — often before they formally come to market.

The opportunity ahead is substantial. Our platform is scaling and compounding, our influence expanding, and our reputation defined by our successful results.

  • Base Salary: $175,000+ (commensurate with experience)

  • Bonus: Performance-based and discretionary (profit-sharing program)

  • Participation: Negotiable for sourced or originated opportunities

  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and paid time off
